☀️ Summer is right around the corner, and it’s important to keep our furry friends safe in the heat! Dogs have a harder time cooling down than humans, especially breeds with limited panting ability. Heat stress can be life-threatening for dogs, so let’s take these precautions together:

🚫 Never leave your dog in a car. Even with cracked windows, the temperature can quickly reach dangerous levels.

🔍 Be vigilant for signs of heat stress: excessive panting, a widened tongue, stumbling, or glassy eyes. Act swiftly if you spot these symptoms.

🌊 Cool them down gently: Offer cool water to drink, pour water over their body, or let them take a refreshing swim in a cool pond. You can even place ice on areas with high skin contact.

⏰ Remember that timing is crucial: Once your dog’s body temperature starts to come down, it’s essential to stop the cooling methods to prevent hypothermia.

🔥🚗 Hot Cars Can Be Deadly for Dogs! Did you know that parked cars can turn into dangerous ovens for our furry friends in the summer heat?

⏱️ Even on a mild day, temperatures inside a car can skyrocket within minutes. In fact, in just five minutes, the temperature inside a car can reach close to 100 degrees, putting the dog’s life at risk.

🌡️ Dogs don’t have the same cooling mechanisms as humans. With their thick fur coats that trap heat, they are highly susceptible to heatstroke. A dog’s core body temperature is around 101 degrees, and if it rises above 104 degrees, they are in serious danger of suffering from heat stress.

🆘 If you ever come across a dog locked in a hot car, it’s crucial to act immediately! Call the authorities, whether it’s the police or animal control, for prompt intervention. Remember, time is of the essence when it comes to saving a dog’s life.
